This piece is an old Original Pende "Warrior Chief" tribal statue from DRC also known as a lineage chief, is a leader within the Pende society of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). They are typically chosen from a matrilineal lineage and are responsible for the well-being and governance of their clan or lineage. Their role is also linked to the use of masks in rituals and ceremonies, which are used to appease ancestors, protect chiefs, and honor funerals.
